How to Watch Channel 4 from the UAE
Works in Dubai
Channel 4's player stops at the UK and Irish borders, so it won't open in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. BritVPN connects you to the UK version, with box sets on demand and the live channels.

What is Channel 4?
Channel 4 is a free UK streaming service, licensed for viewers in the United Kingdom. Viewers in Dubai cannot open it directly, because the service checks the IP address and blocks connections from outside the UK. BritVPN presents a UK address so the app treats you as a UK viewer.
Why Channel 4 is blocked in the UAE
Channel 4's help pages name only two places where its streaming service works, the UK and the Republic of Ireland. The Emirates are outside both, so channel4.com and the app refuse to play anything. Unlike Ireland, the UAE gets no partial catalogue, and roaming on a UK SIM doesn't help either.
What plays from the Emirates
On a local connection, nothing. The on-demand library, the Watch Live streams of Channel 4, E4, More4 and Film4, and the ad-free Channel 4+ tier are all geo-restricted, with live TV and Channel 4+ kept for UK residents.
Programmes downloaded to an iPhone or Android phone while you were in the UK do keep playing offline in the UAE, which helps on a short trip. For anything new, you need a UK connection.

Channel 4 subscriptions from Dubai
Channel 4 is free in Britain, paid for by adverts before and during programmes. Channel 4+ is the paid, ad-free option, and it is sold to UK residents only.
So the realistic choice from the UAE is the free tier over a UK connection. You create a normal Channel 4 account, which asks for a UK postcode; use one you are allowed to use. The same account then works on your phone, a Fire TV stick and the browser.

Channel 4's evenings in Gulf time
Gulf Standard Time is GMT plus four, with no daylight saving. A 9pm Channel 4 programme in London therefore starts at 1am in Dubai during the British winter and at midnight from late March to late October.
Prime time is easier on demand, after broadcast, while daytime UK shows fall in the UAE afternoon and suit Watch Live.

Watching UK TV in Dubai
Channel 4 is one of three free British players, and BBC iPlayer and ITVX are blocked in the Emirates too. A single BritVPN subscription covers all three on Android and iOS phones and tablets, Android TV, Fire TV, and in Chrome or Edge.
Love Island fans should look at ITVX rather than Channel 4. It airs at midnight UAE time during the summer series.
The UAE's cybercrime law is aimed at people who hide their IP address to commit or conceal a crime. Keep BritVPN to UK television.

No. Channel 4's on-demand catalogue is limited to the UK and Ireland, although programmes you downloaded in the UK keep working offline.

Is it legal to watch Channel 4 in Dubai?
