What is ITVX?

ITVX is a free UK streaming service, licensed for viewers in the United Kingdom. Viewers in New Zealand cannot open it directly, because the service checks the IP address and blocks connections from outside the UK. BritVPN presents a UK address so the app treats you as a UK viewer.

Why ITVX is blocked in New Zealand

ITV Studios renewed its long-running content deal with TVNZ in January 2026, so a fair amount of ITV is on free-to-air TV in New Zealand:

Coronation Street and Emmerdale on TVNZ 1, along with the quiz show The Chase.
Love Island UK on TVNZ Duke and TVNZ+. The 2026 series aired at 8:30pm NZST from 3 June.
Live ITV1, ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4 stream only through ITVX, as does the wider ITVX catalogue.

New Zealand is 11 to 13 hours ahead of the UK. ITV1's 9pm slot works out at 8am in Auckland during the UK summer and 10am during the UK winter, with 9am between late September and late October, and again from late March to early April, when one country has switched clocks and the other hasn't.
