What is ITVX?
ITVX is a free UK streaming service, licensed for viewers in the United Kingdom. Viewers in Italy cannot open it directly, because the service checks the IP address and blocks connections from outside the UK. BritVPN presents a UK address so the app treats you as a UK viewer.
Why ITVX is blocked in Italy
ITV ties ITVX to the UK through its broadcast and content licences, so an Italian IP address is turned away before a programme starts. It makes no difference whether you're at home in Milan, in a holiday let in Puglia or on Italian mobile data.
What ITVX streaming includes
ITVX is ITV's streaming service. The free version carries live streams of ITV1, ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4 plus an on-demand library, funded by adverts. ITVX Premium is an optional subscription that removes the adverts and adds downloads to the phone and tablet apps. Programmes from the four channels join the library after broadcast, alongside box sets and ITVX exclusives.
Both versions are licensed for the UK only, so subscribing to Premium from Italy doesn't open anything extra. There is no Italian edition of ITVX; searches for "ITVX Italia" lead to the same UK service.

Love Island UK from Italy
Love Island UK is one of the ITV shows people in Italy look for. While a series runs, the new episode goes out on ITV2 and ITVX at 9pm UK time every night but Saturday. In Italy that's 10pm, and ITVX puts it on demand shortly afterwards for anyone who'd rather watch over breakfast. Earlier episodes from the current series stay on ITVX, so a weekend away doesn't leave you behind.

UK schedules in Italian time
Italy is one hour ahead of the UK all year, because both move their clocks on the last Sundays of March and October. Add an hour to any ITV listing and you have the time in Rome, Florence or Palermo, so an 8pm ITV1 programme is on at 9pm. That suits Italian evenings, as most 9pm UK dramas finish before midnight local time.
