ITVX Postcode Format: Sign Up From Abroad
An ITVX account is a UK account. The form asks for a UK postcode. That is an address check, not a code you can invent. Register while BritVPN is connected, then use the same login on your TV.
Create an ITVX account abroad
The same steps work on a phone, a TV stick, or a browser.
- Connect BritVPN to the UK before you open the signup page.
- Register at itv.com with your own email.
- Enter a UK postcode you are allowed to use, such as a family address. Do not use a random postcode.
- Sign in on the ITVX app with that account.

Why the postcode matters
- ITVX will not finish signup without a UK postcode, and it will not play video without a UK IP address. A postcode does not replace the IP check.
The UK postcode format ITVX expects
A UK postcode has two parts separated by a space. The first part (the outward code) is one or two letters for the area, then a district number that can end in a letter. The second part (the inward code) is always a digit followed by two letters.
That gives these shapes, where A is a letter and 9 is a digit:
- A9 9AA
- A99 9AA
- AA9 9AA
- AA99 9AA
- A9A 9AA
- AA9A 9AA
Postcodes that won't work
- US ZIP codes, Canadian and Australian postcodes: wrong format.
- Irish Eircodes: they look similar but don't follow the UK pattern, so they won't pass as a UK postcode.
- Made-up postcodes in the right shape: they may pass the form but can get the account locked. Use an address you are allowed to use, such as family in the UK.
The postcode doesn't unlock playback
People often assume a UK postcode is what makes ITVX work abroad. It isn't. The postcode only completes the account. Every stream still checks your IP address, so you need a UK connection as well as a UK address on the account.
