Rain Dogs: A New Comedy Drama from the BBC
Told with dark humour and an anarchic attitude, Rain Dogs is not your normal television programme. The summation that describes the comedy-drama is that; "it's normal to hate the people you love". Now this may sound strange, but once you've watched a couple of episodes of this original BBC mini-series, you'll understand why.
So, who are the Rain Dogs? Costello, Iris, Selby, and Gloria are a makeshift family bound by defiance, chaos, poverty and pain. Their circumstances are always intense. Overarching this is a wild and punky tale of a mother’s love for her daughter. We first meet Costello (Daisy May Cooper) who is facing eviction from their flat.
She makes a promise to her daughter Iris that they will have a safe place to stay by nightfall. Selby is back in the free world after a stint in prison and keen to reconnect with Iris and Costello. Selby and Costello don’t know if they can trust one another again, but as Costello and Iris’s search for a place to stay grows more desperate, both Costello and Selby will stop at nothing to keep Iris safe in the crooked city.
