It’s been adapted into theatre plays, radio plays, films, (animated films), video games and numerous television series’, but it all started with a book - Jules Verne’s classic, Around the World in Eighty Days (that’s Le Tour du Monde en Quatre-Vingts Jours in its original French title!). This title captured readers’ imaginations immediately upon its publication in 1872 (French) and again in 1873 when its English translation reached the masses, and continues to do so today - why else would the BBC be producing yet another adaptation if it didn’t?! The tale follows the journey of London explorer, Phileas Fogg joined by his valet, Jean Passepartout and aspiring journalist Abigail Fix as they attempt to circumnavigate the globe in 80 days in a £20,000 wager set by his Gentleman’s Club friends…. that’s about £2,276,486.72 in today’s money!! In the latest reiteration of Verne’s masterpiece, co-produced by Slim film+television and Federation Entertainment (to be aired on the BBC), we can look forward to seeing Doctor Who, Broadchurch and Good Omens star David Tennant taking on the lead role of Phileas Fogg. Alongside Tennant, emerging French actor Ibrahim Koma (Je Suis Daddy, Mother Is Wrong) will step into the role of valet, Passepartout and Leonie Benesch (The Crown, White Ribbon) will complete the intrepid trio as Abigail Fix. Not only can we look forward to a wealth of talent on the screen, but also top quality in those working behind it, as the series has been adapted and written by a stellar team of writers, helmed by Life On Mars, Ashes to Ashes and The Living And The Dead writer, Ashley Pharoah and Child of Mine and Heartless writer, Caleb Ranson. All of this on and off screen goodness will soon be available to stream via BBC iPlayer. We’re going to be looking at how you can get ready to join the adventure, by streaming Around the World in Eighty Days on BBC iPlayer from any overseas location. So don’t worry if you’re trying to win a globe-trotting wager, you’ll still be able to enjoy this latest adaptation wherever you are! Filming for Around the World in Eighty Days (not to be confused with the BBC travel series of the same name starring Michael Palin!) began in February 2020 and was being shot in location in South Africa during March 2020, when filming was postponed due to the Covid-19 crisis. This has unfortunately led to a delay in the BBC’s initial release date of late 2020 for this epic eight 60 minute episode series. Hopefully however, it will still hit our screens in early 2021 (fingers crossed). On the bright side, this gives those of you living or travelling (or locked down) overseas plenty of time to get your software and streaming devices in order, ready in anticipation of this release. That’s where Beebs comes in.

Say hello to Beebs

Beebs enables you to access and stream any BBC content from anywhere in the world. Beebs takes all the best bits from traditional VPNs - it serves as a cloaking device that scrambles your location and makes it appear as though your computer is connecting to iPlayer in the UK. What Beebs doesn’t take form traditional VPNs though, are their technically difficult set-up requirements and potentially dangerous-to-download software. Instead it is merely a simple Google Chrome add-on, which installs directly to your browser, keeping your device safe and streaming speed high. Helping you embark on adventures you can only dream of during these crazy times. Stay safe out there!

We’ve made it so simple that you only need to follow these three simple steps

    1. Download Chrome Browser, if you're not already using it.

    2. Install Beebs, this nifty tool redirects all your BBC requests.

Your web-browser, having reloaded, will now be able to stream iPlayer.
