How to watch ITV Abroad
Whether you are abroad on holiday, visiting family or on a business trip the option to continue to watch some of your favourite ITV programmes when you are there is invaluable.
It is now possible to subscribe to a package called ITV Hub+ if you are visiting or live in the EU and have a British bank account. It will cost £3.99 per month.
The package was originally devised just to be used in the UK and gave subscribers advert-free content. However, the pesky European Parliament passed a law in 2017 which meant any online service purchased in a EU country had to be available when a person was travelling or working in another EU member state (Regulation (EU) 2017/1128 of the European Parliament and of the council on cross-border portability of online content services in the internal market to be exact)
Other ways to watch ITV while abroad
It is likely that you may have heard of a VPN. This is a piece of software that tells a website you are trying to connect to from abroad that you are in the UK and thus can watch ITV or other UK channels.
If you are technically gifted then this may be your best option because it others a high level of security and anonymity. These days most VPNs are fairly reliable. Unfortunately they can run into problems and a technical brain may be needed to switch to the correct port needed to continue viewing content - a lot of VPN software is not user-friendly.
VPNs can also slow down your internet connection making working on other web projects while watching ITV much harder. One reason for this is simply distance. If your connection is slow from Spain, Greece or Turkey - imagine how slow it will be to watch in America, Thailand or Australia.
